Welcome to our June 2024 Fundraising Round – Up!
It only seems days ago that we were collating our May fundraising highlights! Enjoy our round up of our recent events, keep you up to date on what’s coming up for you to get involved in, and let us introduce you to another member of our fantastic Fundraising Committee who are responsible for making our events happen.
Summerhill Discovered
Or favourite tour guide, Rob Chapman, did us proud again with a Saturday morning walk and talk around Newcastle’s hidden Georgian treasure, Summerhill. The weather was great for the 1st day of June, and we discovered the history of the buildings and stories of the residents, including MP Mo Mowlem.
Rob has been supporting US Active over several years and has delivered a range of themed walking tours including: Entertaining Geordies and Ghosts and Grisly Tales of the Quayside! We recommend you keep an eye out for the next one…
Summer on the Green
We are proud to be Whitley Women Community Choir‘s Charity of the Year! On the 22nd June, they hosted their fabulous ‘Summer on the Green’ event at Village Court in Whitley Bay.
In the afternoon they sang and had tea and a host of handmade cakes – very civilised! In the evening, a small, but select audience attended for strawberries and Prosecco, plus music from singers and musicians. Between the two events, they raised £700 for US Active! We loved joining them, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU!
US200 Club June Draw
The winners of this month’s US 200 draw were: 1st prize Sally (52), 2nd prize Adi (38), and 3rd prize Linda (11). The draw raised £335 for US Active.

Meet the Fundraising Committee
This month we’re introducing Jo who joined US Active’s fundraising committee in 2021, and is the driving force behind our ‘All things Recycling’ agenda – her dedication to reduce, reuse and recycle helped us raise over £1000 in 2023/24 (…obviously we’ve increased her target for 2024/25!)
Here’s why Jo joined our Fundraising Committee, ”
I have been a mental health nurse for 30 years. Any good public health model works on “prevention is better than cure.” I see every day in my working life the poor life chances a child has, if their mental health isn’t invested in. I have also been a Primary School governor for 13 years now too. When Mary Jane asked me to support the charities fundraising, I knew that small changes and investment in a young persons life gives them the best chances of success in the future.”
We’re always looking for new members for our committee, so if you’d like to get involved, drop us an email to [email protected] to find out more.
That’s all for June, we’ll be back next month with more news!
